Course Description:

This seminar explores the relationship between immigration, activism, social justice, and media by examining the experiences of Latino undocumented immigrant youth activists. Drawing from historical, theoretical, empirical, narrative, and media materials, the course focuses on the migration journey, daily experiences, identity formation, educational obstacles, and activism among Latino undocumented immigrant youth activists. The course will also teach students to think critically about the ways in which Latino undocumented immigrant youth activists have gained the power to alter their social position in the U.S.    by fighting for social justice and standing in solidarity with other marginalized communities.
