Receive Academic Support and Learn Effective Study Skills!

Encounter to Excellence students receive free supplemental instruction in English and math to help them build skills and confidence in order to succeed in their college careers. The Supplemental Instruction program serves CSUDH's underserved diverse student population in first-year English and math courses. Through peer-led collaborative learning experiences that create independent learners, our program fosters a culture of increased retention, persistence, and graduation rates.

  • ENG 108-109: Freshman Composition: Stretch 1 and 2
  • ENG 112: Freshman Composition Supported
  • MAT 102: Foundations of Statistics
  • MAT 132: Elementary Statistics and Probability with Algebra Review
  • MAT 15: College Algebra with Intermediate Algebra Review

  • Facilitates out-of-class study sessions based on student-learning paradigms
  • Provides in-class support
  • Offers one-on-one tutoring
  • Facilitates mandatory workshop sessions that support course content
  • Provides and facilitates interventions to support student success
