Health Insurance

The CSU requires all international students to obtain and maintain adequate insurance coverage (health, medical evacuation, and repatriation) during their period of enrollment. Health insurance protects you from having to pay, by yourself, large medical bills that can arise even from simple medical procedures.

All F-1 visa students are required to show proof of coverage and carry comprehensive coverage as follows:

  • Minimum coverage of $100,000 for major medical and hospital benefits
  • Minimum coverage of $30,000 for repatriation and evacuation
  • Deductible may not exceed $500

You are required to present detailed proof of health insurance when you arrive on campus to the International Student Services office. You may not register and enroll in classes without proof of an adequate health insurance policy.

If you fail to maintain your health insurance while attending CSUDH you will be out-of-status and not eligible for a work permit or travel validation to return to the USA.

For your benefit, safety, and convenience, the university has made arrangements for students to purchase a reasonable and comprehensive health insurance package. Go to CSU Healthlink for enrollment and payment information.
