The certificate is for people who wish to gain a broad education in the principles of purchasing and procurement management. Those already in the field of procurement, as well as those anticipating a career change will benefit from this practical training taught by leading professionals currently employed in Purchasing.
Topics covered include cost-price analysis, negotiation, public sector procurement, legal and regulatory considerations, specification, standardization, supply, ethical issues, partnering, total quality procurement, and logistics.
No application is required for entering the certificate program. To earn the certificate, you must complete the five courses offered achieving an over-all grade point average of 2.5 or better. The certificate must be completed within three years once the student has started the program.
The tuition for each three-unit course is listed in the schedule. Textbooks, workbooks and other related materials are not included in the tuition.
To register for a class, just call 877-GO-HILLS (877-464-4557). After you have registered, you'll automatically be set up in Blackboard. Blackboard is the software package used to administer the course material. You can also send an email to Frank Putz, instructor, at fputz@csudh.edu for Blackboard instructions if you do not receive them by email.

Frank Putz, MBA, Instructor, Lifetime A.P.P., Lifetime C.P.M., CPSM Review Instructor, with over 30 years of experience in electronics, material planning, and military procurement practices. He has taught classes in economics, management, supply management (purchasing) and supply chain management. He has been teaching classes for CSUDH for over 20 years. He earned his BA in Economics, MBA, and Production and Inventory Control Certificate from CSUDH.

A Certificate of Completion is awarded upon successful completion of the required courses.
Note: Once you have completed all the required courses, you may request your certificate via our online application. The processing time is approximately 6-8 weeks from the time of submission, and includes both a digital certificate link and a printed physical certificate.

There are no prerequisites for enrollment and no admission process.
When you're ready to register for courses, call 310-243-3741 (Option 1). If you have previously taken a class at CSUDH, you can register at myCSUDH (https://my.csudh.edu) using your CSUDH account.
The deadline to enroll for courses for most certificate programs is FOUR (4) BUSINESS DAYS or earlier before the class begins; please check the Course Schedule for the program to ensure that you can enroll on time.
